About Me
Nguyen Bao Han Tran (Han) (she/her) is a writer whose work explores identity, independence, and the complexities of growing up across cultures. Born in Vietnam and raised between Singapore and Canada, she writes from a deeply multicultural perspective that shapes her understanding of people, place, and belonging.
Her writing sits at the intersection of personal reflection and social analysis. Through essays and opinion pieces, Han connects individual experience with broader cultural and political conversations — from navigating the loneliness of moving away for university, to examining environmental accountability in Vietnam, to critiquing Canadian immigration policy.
Across all her work, Han is drawn to the themes of youth, belonging, and finding one’s voice in an overwhelming world. She believes that storytelling — whether through writing, speaking, or any creative expression — gives people the space to be seen and understood.
Han contributes to campus publications, including The Medium and Her Campus at the University of Toronto Mississauga, where she writes about identity, culture, and the issues shaping young people’s lives today. She continues to develop her craft in narrative nonfiction, editorial writing, and cross-cultural storytelling, with the goal of amplifying diverse perspectives and creating work that sparks meaningful reflection.
